Question:

What’s the process for a long-term suspension hearing?

Answer:

If a principal finds that a suspension of more than 10 school days or expulsion is warranted, they must report it to the county superintendent. The superintendent or their representative will then investigate the matter thoroughly. If an extended suspension or expulsion is deemed necessary, the student or their parent can appeal to the local board within 10 days. The local board or its designated committee will then have 45 days to address the appeal.
