Question:

What happens if my child is suspended multiple times?

Answer:

If your child in Maryland receives multiple suspensions at school, the principal can request a suspension for more than 10 days or even expulsion. The county superintendent will investigate the situation thoroughly. If the superintendent finds that a longer suspension or expulsion is necessary, the student or the student’s parent can appeal the decision to the local board within 10 days. During the appeal process, the student must not return to school until a decision is made.
