Understanding Juvenile Justice Referrals in Maryland Schools
Question:
What is a juvenile justice referral?
Answer:
If your child is arrested at school or referred to the Department of Juvenile Services in Maryland, you will have an interview with a DJS intake officer. This interview is not a court proceeding. The DJS intake officer will review the incident and discuss what steps you, as the parent, have taken to address your child’s behavior.
